FAQs

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment via the Appointment Form

What is your availability for appointments?

I am available for appointments from Monday to Thursday, between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Please let me know your preferred date and time, and I will do my best to accommodate your schedule. Appointments are made at the top of the hour, e.g. 4pm or 5pm , but not at 4:30 or 5:30. Please share your preference.

How is my appointment scheduled?

Once we have agreed on a date and time, I will send you a confirmation email with the appointment details and send further instructions by WhatsApp.

What can I expect from our first session?

You may feel anxious about what to expect and have many questions. Once your consultation appointment is confirmed, you will receive a form via email to complete. The initial consultation is usually about introductions, a thorough explanation of therapy: consent, confidentiality and limits to this. You may also want to discuss your therapy goals, needs (e.g. number of sessions, budget), and get a general sense of our compatibility. You can expect that I may share topic related information sheets and collaborative assignments to help consolidate your understanding and to support you feeling grounded between our sessions.

Is therapy for me?

Absolutely. Psychotherapy can help you in moments of crisis as well as to maintain feelings of well-being. Professional psychotherapy aims to help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so you can function better and increase your overall mental vitality.

How is therapy different from talking to a friend?
  • A supportive friend is important but may feel the burden of your story as they may struggle, feeling the need to provide solutions. In contrast, a professionally trained therapist will assess your concerns and then provide you with a wide array of resources to support you.
  • A conversation with a friend often consists of sharing struggles with each other. In contrast, Psychologists are trained to engage you in a therapeutic conversation. Our aim is for a deeper exploration of meaning in your conversation that may have shaped your current understanding and painful experiences.
  • Healthy relationships consist of give and take. Therefore, friends can feel disappointed when the conversation is only about you. In contrast, the therapeutic space is there for and about you. Psychologists are ethically bound to strict client confidentiality. What happens in therapy – STAYS in therapy.
